It's a new month at Stan, so let's see what televisual and filmatic surprises Stan has in store for us (and I'm pretty sure I just made up two words there).
For TV, there's the usual new episodes as you can see below. The only "new" new addition is Dice, of which the second season of the hit show about the comedic comeback of comebacks begins. The first episode of season 2 is already available for streaming as a sort of advanced online preview, but the next episode doesn't start airing every Sunday until August 28.
There's a real eclectic collection of movies on Stan this week, quite a lot of them too, so I'll just go over what I think are the highlights.
Liam Neeson is great in super intense The Grey. It may have received some unfavorable reviews, but pay no attention to those if you haven't seen the film for yourself.
The next three might be grouped into the same type of film, of the ensemble cast romantic comedy variety - He's Just Not That Into You, The Rules of Attraction, What To Expect When You're Expecting. Don't expect too much from these films and you might be surprised (or not).
World movie fans should check out Quit Staring At My Plate and Clash, while if you're really into the weird and wonderful, then these Werner Herzog films will not disappoint: Fitzcarraldo, Aguirre, The Wrath Of God, The Enigma Of Kaspar Hauser, Heart Of Glass, and Stroszek.
And then if you're really after something weird, at times funny and touching, Lars And The Real Girl starring Ryan Gosling in a very different role is well worth a watch.
