Netflix's tidal wave of new content and diverse genres continue to inspire awe and sweep us up, churning out more Riverdale, Chelsea S2, Unbreakable Kimmie Schmidt S3, House of Cards S5, Master of None S2 and Sense8 S2 this jam packed May. Let's have a look at some highlights.

New to the library, we welcome 'The Mars Generation', a documentary focused on the possibilities of space travel within these few decades, spurred on by the brightest and youngest thinkers – also touching on Elon Musks' mission to Mars.

In "The Keepers" (trailer) the suspicious death of a Baltimore nun is re examined through hundreds of interviews, and with the help of local residents – this eight part series comes from the same team which brought Making of a Murderer and Amanda Knox. Scratching beneath the surface, we take a closer look at what might have happened.

Netflix's political war satire movie War Machine (trailer) comes on May 27; the film is based on the book “The Operators: The Wild and Terrifying Inside Story of America’s War in Afghanistan” by the late Michael Hastings. The film is fictional, but Pitt's character is based on General Stanley McChrystal, a retired United States army general. As general Glenn McMahon swoops into Afghanistan to 'clean up' and set a 'new direction', he finds himself the target of an expose. Also starring Ben Kingsley, Tilda Swinton, Topher Grace, and Anthony Michael Hall.

In "Revolutionary Road" (trailer), Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet reunite in this drama directed by Sam Mendes (Winslet's husband at the time), based on Richard Yate's eponymous novel released 1961. Frank and April Wheeler find themselves in a typical 1950's set up, a husband who is away long hours and a housewife who feels shortchanged in her personal potential. A work opportunity comes along and could bring them out of their inertia, or pull to the front simmering issues. Their chemistry and intimate body language really shines through.

Beloved children's book Anne of Green Gables (trailer) by LM Montgomery will be brought to life with Amybeth McNulty. Anne Shirley is a lively orphan who was mistakenly sent to a brother-sister pair in Prince Edward Island in 1890s – and tells her story with aplomb, wit and courage. Also starring (Geraldine James) as Marilla and (R.H. Thomson) as Matthew Cuthbert. The eight episodes will stream from May 12.

Children will love the movie adaptation of Roald Dahl's "The BFG" (Big Friendly Giant - trailer). A young girl is befriended by a giant who others cannot see – and she is stolen away to his giant world. Directed by Steven Spielberg, this is a light hearted reimagining, told perfectly from a child's wondrous perspective.

Couple of comedy/humour specials are thrown into the mix here, look up Tracy Morgan: Staying Alive, Hasan Minhaj: Homecoming King, Sarah Silverman A Speck of Dust, all creating exclusive shows for Netflix customers. Fans of House of Cards will need to wait a little longer, unfortunately – the brand new season arrives on May 30.
